It`s obviuos with the ample screen time recieved by Benny in episode one that he will definitely get whacked this season. He had more screen time in this episode than all the others combined. (except for the robbery with Chris and Jackie jr. in season 3), So knowing David Chase he`s just getting everyone familiar with him before it`s Lights Out!

Benny dead, no way. Hopefully its just the opposite, who knows maybe Benny will be the one doing the whacking instead of getting whacked. With all the new characters being introduced there are going to be a lot of egos and not everyone will be happy so maybe Benny will get to do a little clean-up this season.

I am actaully mixed on that issue. DC could be pushing the Benny character more so that they could whack him. Butt we dont know his charcater well enough yet to love him or miss him. They would have to kill him in a pretty sick way (which I believe will happen to top Ralphies head in a bowling bag) We all know him from Doogie Hauser MD.

Yeah, I always thought Benny was kind of generic - they never really took the time to establish his character. But Chase always establishes a few associates as `sacrificial lambs' throughout the season - minor mob characters who he can whack or put into a coma -i.e. Donny K, Bryan Spatafore, Chucky Signore, etc. - usually as a result of a disagreement between Tony and a more major character. So it's entirely possible that the (presumed) war with NYC ends up in the death of a few of Tony's foot soldiers like Benny, Vito or Little Paulie.

i really don't see his character that interesting, i have hardly been noticing him over the seasons, and maybe thats the meaning, and i think he will get whacked soon, or maybe eaten by the bear

Chase is known for giving some characters more screentime after introducing them as minor characters. Remember how small the Johnny-role used to be? Or Ade for that matter. Some characters just get bigger roles and some don't. IMO, Benny and Li'l Paulie are good to have around, because it's too confusing for regular viewers if they introduce new characters every week.

I think the emergence of Benny and Lil Paulie is just a matter of progressive story writing. You can only keep a character in the background for so long before you come to a point where you have to decide to either eliminate the character from future story lines or make use of the character in a more substantial manner.
