Not sure if this has been posted here before but I just saw this and thought it was pretty neat. It's basically an alternate show opening with some added footage of Tony driving home and of some of the various characters shown outside walking and getting out of cars. Not sure where it came from as I don't think it was part of any of the DVD box sets, or at least I never noticed them as I have all the seasons. :icon_biggrin:

That's great! Someone (one of the actors?) had mentioned on a commentary track that they had shot this footage, but I didn't realize they had ever made an edit with it. I prefer the version they went with, but this was a treat to see. Thanks carpetbeggar!

Wow, awesome find! Like Jouster, I definitely prefer the official opening. This one had some really choppy audio edits, and the visuals didn't seem to flow as nicely (though that just might be because I've become so completely used to the other one). Still, great to watch. Seeing the characters as Tony drives by was kind of a neat idea.

Thanks!

That's so neat to see! I completely agree that the version they went with is immensely better (and I know this was no where near a final music edit, but it's pretty pathetic, even for a temporary. :icon_biggrin:) Still it's wild to see the characters out like that. The Junior one cracked me up, but the weirdest had to be Melfi. As though, after all that seedy Newark footage, Tony would pass her office on the way home.:icon_razz:

That was really weird. I never knew such a thing existed. What was Junior at? lol. I thought it was pretty cheesy showing all the characters, especially Melfi. Interesting nonetheless.

I also remember hearing about this. And it is an interesting idea, but SO glad they went with what is now a classic.

I wonder if the opening credit sequence with all the characters was something HBO requested. From what I understand, there was a lot more meddling in the first season, or at least the first few episodes, that Chase had to resist. Of course HBO not wanting Tony to actually kill Febby Petrullio is probably the most famous. It looks like they wanted a few more "traditional" aspects of the show, like the aforementioned sequence. All I know is that it reminded me of that one season of "Everybody Loves Raymond" where all the characters went by on a conveyor belt behind him during the opening credits.

I guess I missed out since the video is no longer posted. I'm going to have to search for it. I'm definitely interested in checking it out.
