View Full Version : I wish they'd whack AJ!

I really wish AJ would get whacked! He's a spoiled ungrateful kid who is disrespectful of his mother, takes advantage of his father. AJ doesn't seem to care about anyone but himself. He's a study in contradictions like Tony, he's a momma's boy who calls out "Mommy! Mommy!" like a child when he sees a bear in the backyard, and then turns around and tells her to F off.

The problem is that there is little they can do with AJ as a character, because Robert Iler who plays him is the worst actor in the cast. They never can give him too many scenes.

They ought to set it up that Tony has some confrontation at his house while AJ is staying with him, and AJ gets shot and killed in the crossfire accidentally by one of Tony's associates. Naturally Carmela will blame Tony and it will be another stake in their marriage. And Meadow won't speak to Tony anymore. This even though it wasn't his fault. AJ's death can be the event that signals the final estrangement between Tony and his family.

While I also despise AJ for exactly the same reasons as MadScorpion, I don't think I want to see the little p--ck whacked, mainly because such a devastating event in Tony's life would be basically too similar to The Godfather Part II. The Sopranos has always been an original series, distinct from all other mob tales that came before it. I'd very much like to see it stay that way.

Just because a certain character is detestable doesn't mean that they don't add something crucial, or at least important, to the series. Janice, for instance--no one likes her, but she does nonetheless add something to the series. For that reason alone, I don't want to see her taken off the show--or AJ either. What I WOULD most certainly like to see is AJ finally crossing the line in his interactions with his parents--especially Carmela--and Tony finally opening up the can of whupa$$ the the damn kid deserves. And I suspect that'll happen next episode, if I remember the preview correctly. If for that reason alone, I can't hardly wait . . .

Oh, and 4nthony--it was funny the first time you told MadScorpion to stop posting, and even now it still tickles me a little, but next time it'll just be annoying. He can post whatever retardation he wants--this is a free country, and a free message board. Lord knows enough other people have posted some nonsense on this board (like speculating that Tony would kill and FBI agent--madness!!!), but nobody ever told them to "stop posting".

Aj is just acting like a normal teenager - arrogant, rebellious, unsure of what they want to do with their life.

I'd like to see AJ mouth off to Tony like he did to Carm and see Tony smack the crap outta him. A couple quick punches to the testicles and make a sharp shot to the mouth to loosen a few teeth would change his attitude real quick.

Let's hear him say: "...what, no fuckin' ziti?!" through a mouthful of blood.

maybe Tony should take AJ to the Bada Bing and get him laid. That would loosen him up and maybe make him grow up a little <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

That's the truth. I was the same way as he is. In fact most of my friends were little punkasses too, and now my little brother is a punk with all his friends. Most people grow out of it, or in some cases get humbled by a bigger punk ass. I like AJ.

No need for AJ to go to the Bing. He should be banging that hot sister of his. Wouldn't Carm think he's such a healthy young man if she walked in on AJ doing Meadow from behind?

Nothing like a little incest to shake up the Soprano household, wouldn't you say?

Whack,

Respectfully disagreeing--I don't think Carmela is laboring under the belief that AJ is "healthy"--I think Tony and AJ are the ones in denial about that....for ex, the blowup between the three after AJ dragged himself home in "All Happy Families"

I also think that your post was a little too sexually graphic, maybe?

Some of us don't like AJ's character, but once again, like Janice and some other characters we don't like, they do add to the complex mosaic of this show. Most families have a son (or daughter) whom is an underacheiver, is a smart a-, so why should the Sopranos be different? I don't think he should be whacked, but could he get into trouble and get killed on his own? There is no doubt from the preview for next week that he and his Father are going to have a confrontation. What that will result in is anybody's guess. Clearly Tony doesn't want AJ to go into the 'family business' and AJ will probably not make it into any decent college, so Tony will probably find some job for him to do in the legit side of the family (work at the Bing', at the 'waste management' co). Nonetheless, probably AJ won't make it to his 21st birthday, either because of an accident, use of drugs/drink, maybe get caught in the crossfire of a mob deal, maybe get into trouble with the police, or maybe he will get involved with the mob at a very low level and get nailed shortly thereafter when a deal goes bad. If AJ got killed/died, this would add to Tony's woes in the storyline.

How do you make AJ "grow up" on the show when he is so physically immature. In season 1, I thought Iler was a good casting because he was a bit hefty like pop, but now he's a twig and never grew into the build I thought he would eventually have. It sounds silly, but I think this limits how "grown up" we'll ever seen AJ get.
