It seems like since the 2nd season ended there has been a general rising of the temperature on the show. It all began with Ruggerios neighborhood with the FBI surveillance. From there the pressures of all the Jackie Junior and Ralph stuff came up and then last season with Jonny Sack wanting Carmine hit and conversely with Carmine wanting Sack done with. All of this combined with Tonys marriage going down the tubes has made life extremely complicated. Look at this season already, you have the potential for a huge war in NY, 3 rats in the DiMeo family, well 2 now that Masserone is fertilizer, and with the potential for a lot of exposure in the Bronx could translate to a lot of pressure in Jersey. Tony also has Junior to deal with and his witch of a sister Janice, and a dud of a son Anthony. The business side of Tonys life has never had the potential for so much trauma while his personal life is already in shambles. The 4th season showed the business side pretty much in check with the exception of one capo wanting to defect to NY, one ending up in a bowling ball bag and the other in bed with the government. The season so far has had an escalating tensions with Feech and Sack giving Tony agita and who the heck knows what in the world is going on the preview for next week. This season so far has the potential except for season two.

I know that there's going to be a lot of headaches for Tony, but at the point it seems that the guy is more in charge than ever. After the break up I thought he was going to be a mess, but now he's doing better than Carm. Tony has solved all his problems so far. He got rid of Feech before anything bad happened, he's keeping in AJ in control, he got rid of Massarone before it was too late, he reconciled with Artie and is doing well financially despite the break up.

Still it seems that he's going back to therapy, so his skills as a leader will be tested.
