View Full Version : Who's the snitch in Phil's crew?

This is the second time Agent Harris warns Tony upfront that NY is out for blood. Apparently there's a snitch in Phil's family. Who do y'all think it is?

So if Phil doesn't get clipped, we can all find comfort in that he will probably go back to prison if he gets pinched for all those murders.

Maybe the fat guy with the glasses is a rat?

It doesn't have to be someone (like Butchie or Al) in whom Phil confided his decision to take out the Soprano family. It could be anyone to whom either Butchie or Al subsequently spoke to in order to make the hits happen (or someone these people then talked to). Just think about how many people were aware of the fact that there was a hit on Phil after Tony directed Sil and Bobby to carry it out: Paulie, Patsy, Corky Corporale - and anyone else they talked to about planning the hit, etc.

true that, but in season 6a, episode 12, agent harris warns tony as well but NY hasn't really put a hit out on anybody. It seems like if it was Phil's inner circle only debating on weather or not to whack someone in the NJ fam, and it does seem unlikely that any of these guys would pass that information on to someone lower down the foodchain without anything being truly decided yet.

Then again, who the hell know

Well Butchie is out as a potential informant. He's beaten people real bad and drove the getaway car on the hit for Doc, so his hands are too dirty for him to be an undercover.

The fat bespectacled man looks like a high probability bet. He spent a fair amount of time trying to dissuade Phil from making the hits in the first place.

cos he is the thick of the action, it Doesn't mean that he is not an informant. butchies activities would be a grand dish for the FBI. Pussy was still a violent fuck in all the years he was a rat

Little Carmine also seems not a bad bet, especially considering his speech to Tony about there being more to life than being rich. Not to mention having an old bone to pick with Phil. Though not in the inner circle, could he have access to the info?

All Phil's tough talk about how his long prison sentence entitles him to whatever he wants sounds like foreshadowing of where he'll soon be heading to die.

It's Albie Cianflone.

I have a feeling it might be Albie too. He received a lot of face time and he seemed to be the only one questioning Phil's declaration of war.

It was Albie that called Tony to tell him Johny Sack was the guy who won the war for the top spot in New York after Carmine died. He has been at all the big sit downs in New York even before Johny Sack took control.

I am with the rest of you guys thinking it just might be Albie....

I don't know. I think it could be anybody. As we know with our own NJ family, there have been quite a few snitches on various levels.

I don't want to pin it on Albie just because he was trying to dissuade Phil from going ahead with the hit. I think he was just trying to counsel Phil not to be too hasty before beginning such a large conflict. It's bad for business and it brings a lot of heat to the orginization. Not to mention the fact that everyone is well aware that Phil is partially doing this out of revenge for his brother. Which is not a good enough reason to go to war. I would think that if he was a rat, he would be more likely to agree with everything so as not to bring attention to himself.

I'm pretty sure that was Jimmy Petrile, Not Albie

I have a feeling it's him too as he said to PL on Sac admitting "This thing of ours" in court that "Could have been worse. He could've flipped." Exactly like Vito's "He could be gay" in Join The Club.

nice observation and nice first post. i certainly got the feeling that he was the rat, but it may be too obvious. time will tell.

The guy who called Tony in Season 5 about Johnny Sack being the new boss and Carmine backing out was Jimmy Petrille played by Vinny Vella......He was the rat in Brooklyn that brought John down....

I don't think the snitch is in Phil's crew, but in one of the other New York families. Being respectful Phil would have sought the permission from the other families to sanction the hit. Even before the official decision would be made, the other families would have to think about it, plenty of time for an informant to pass word on that it was being discussed.

Definitely. I doubt it was Butch who informed the FBI agent in "Blue Comet" that the plan was set in motion to take out Tony.

After watching the last two seasons for the millioninth time I feel that the rat in Phils Crew is the fat guy in the glasses, AKA Al. His body language is acted perfectly to demonstrate this many times in the last season when Phil says things he doesnt like. And in the case of Tony and Coco, he told Coco to back off........... Hmmmmmmmmm........

The snitch in New York is the guy Sil throttles at the start of "The Blue comet".I think his name was Burt Gervasi, possibly a cousin of Carlo who we know later flips after his son is busted for selling Ecstacy. Sil says to Tony that he had been working "both sides with the Feds" and if I understand it that he approached Sil about "a change of management",i.e. taking Tony out and joining up with Phil and the Brooklyn mob.Silvio gave him his answer.
