They have hinted that Tony lives hand to mouth in the past, like when he told Melfi how great it was that Vito brought Carmella money while he was in the hospital, Melfi's response was I thought you had millions, not unlike Carmellas response in this past episode when he trys to ask for a piece of his half to wager and she responds"your rich"
I guess since Vito's cash flow stopped coming in Tony can't cover his lifestyle, probably the reason he was reluctant to whack Paulie, even though he knows he is a liability.

Well, the house alone is certainly worth more than $600K, so I'd say 6 mil is what Hesh meant. He's a loanshark, remember, so he's used to large numbers.
